5 Vastu tips for your home

In the story of life, our home plays a paramount role in shaping the flow of the script. We all want our lives to be marked by success and serenity. But like the aforementioned quote suggests, be it the beginning of new things or the end of the bygones, it all narrows in at our homes.

Our homes are supposed to bring us prosperity, wealth and solace. After all, home is where the heart is, right? However, just like everything in the world is affected by the forces of nature, human dwellings are too. Since our homes hold such a central role in our lives, it is vital to building our homes in such a manner that the impact of the underlying forces is harnessed to bring wellness in our lives. Thus comes in Vastu, the science of architecture.

Vastu is a blend of science, art, astrology, and astronomy. It analyzes the influence of the natural elements air, water, earth, space and fire in our lives. We’ve always noticed that bad Vastu leads to misfortune and ill-luck. So what are the things that you need to take care of when it comes to Vastu? Fret not; we have compiled a list of 5 essential Vastu elements to guide you with respect to residential apartments. Let’s dive straight into it:

Main Entrance:

It all begins with the main entrance. Having an entrance from the north, east or north-east is considered to be good, as it is said to bring great monetary success. On the other hand, a south facing entrance is said to cause financial and relationship distress. West facing entrances should also be avoided as they will allow harmful infrared rays of the sun to enter during the afternoon. An entrance opening right in front of the lift is also considered to be unlucky.

Master Bedroom:

As per Vastu, the master bedroom should lie in the south-west corner of the flat. In case of a multi-storey flat, the master bedroom should always be located on the topmost floor. The master bedroom is the room inhabited by a head couple of the family. It is a symbol of togetherness, purity, and serenity. Going by this spirit, keep the master bedroom well lit during the daytime and keep the windows open for at least 30 minutes during the day to allow fresh air to circulate. Having a single mattress instead of doubles reflects emotional connect.

Living Room:

The living room is the heart of all the chitter-chatter in the home. It is the place where we interact with our family as well as with guests. Hence, the eastern zone (barring south-east) is the perfect fit for a living room as it promotes social interactions. North-west is also a viable direction. Having properly maintained room plants help in spreading positive energy. Rectangular furniture should be preferred as it helps in trapping this positive energy. The TV should be kept in the south-east corner and the north-east corner should be kept rather empty.

 Children’s Room:

The northern zone is best suited for placing the room of the children. Keep windows on the northern wall of the room. It helps as sunlight with infrared rays never reflects through the north. The bed(s) in the room should be kept in the south-west portion of the room. The kids should keep their head towards the east while sleeping as it helps the most in brain development.

Kitchen:

Health is wealth. You cannot lead a healthy life without having nutritious food. Hence, kitchens should never be placed beside washrooms. As per Vastu, south-east corner of the home is most Vastu-compliant. A kitchen in the north-east causes great mental trouble. The cook should always face towards the east while cooking to avoid health problems.

Our homes are supposed to bring us good fortune, wellness, and mental peace. Having a Vastu-compliant home is one critical step in that direction. We hope that these tips help you with the same. It must be remembered that Vastu is not some magic trick that will recast your life overnight. Vastu will though, gradually and surely, bring about the positives that one quest in life.
